My Journey Through Art, Life & Beauty

ARTIST JOURNEY

9/10/2026

Hello, and welcome to all of you who are new here. ❤️

I’ve noticed so many new people joining my art world lately, and I thought this would be a beautiful time to introduce myself—not simply as an artist, but as the person behind the paintings.

I’m Agnė Skaringa, originally from Kaunas, Lithuania, and I have been living in the United States for 17 years.

I have always been an artist.

One of my earliest memories of art is from first grade.

I drew a fairy.

I still remember my classmates gathering around my desk, looking at the drawing and asking, “Did you really draw this?”

I was just a little girl, but something happened in that moment. I realized that perhaps I could see things a little differently—and somehow my hand knew how to translate what I saw onto paper.

Art has followed me ever since.

I went on to graduate from three art schools in Lithuania and earned my bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Vilnius Academy of Arts.

Architecture still lives deeply inside my work. You will often find sculptural forms, interesting shapes, structure, balance, shadows and architectural elements hidden throughout my paintings.

But what inspires me most is nature and light.

The way sunlight falls across a tree.

The shadows moving through a garden.

The texture of an old wall.

Water reflecting the sky.

Those quiet moments that are so easy to walk past are often the moments I want to paint.

From architecture to faces to canvas

My creative life has never followed only one path.

After moving to Los Angeles, my love of art, fashion and beauty eventually led me into professional makeup and hairstyling. I founded Beauty Affair and Halloween Makeup Hollywood and over the years my work has taken me into the worlds of weddings, fashion, red carpets and creative makeup.

I was fortunate to receive a scholarship to Cinema Makeup School and later became a winner in the IMATS Battle of the Brushes Beauty/Fantasy competition.

Beauty Affair grew into an award-winning business, and our work has been featured in publications including ELLE, The Knot, Grace Ormonde Wedding Style and others.

But to me, it has always been another form of the same thing:

painting.

Sometimes I paint on paper.
Sometimes on canvas.
Sometimes on people.

It is all about color, shape, texture, light and emotion.

Coming back to fine art

In recent years, I have felt an especially strong pull back toward my fine-art roots.

My work has been shown in Los Angeles and Southern California exhibitions, including Las Laguna Art Gallery’s Women in Art, Dorado 806’s California Dreaming, and TAG Gallery’s L.A. Open 2026.

There is something incredibly meaningful about watching a painting leave my studio and begin another life in an exhibition—or, even more beautifully, in someone’s home.

Because I don’t think art is simply decoration.

Art holds memory. It holds energy. It becomes part of the space where we live our lives.

I believe in choosing art that means something to you—something you can live with for years, perhaps pass down, and hopefully love even more as time goes on.

Why watercolor has my heart right now

I paint in oil, I draw, and I work in watercolor—but right now, watercolor completely fascinates me.

It may look delicate and effortless, but it is one of the most intricate mediums I have worked with.

Watercolor moves and flows.

Sometimes it does exactly what you imagined, and sometimes it creates something you never could have planned.

You have to guide it, but you also have to surrender to it.

I love that!

There is an incredible luminosity in transparent watercolor. You can build layers of color while still allowing light to travel through them. There is softness, movement and a little bit of unpredictability.

Maybe that is why it feels so much like nature itself.

Where you will usually find me

Some of my happiest hours are spent painting outside.

I love plein-air painting in gardens and wild places, surrounded by trees, flowers, changing light and all those beautiful imperfections.

Sometimes you’ll find me painting quietly in my gazebo- my shangri la. Other days I take my watercolors outside to places like Huntington Botanical Gardens or Descanso Gardens.

Painting is my meditation.

So is yoga.

Kundalini and Vinyasa yoga have become an essential part of my life. Both remind me to slow down, breathe, notice, and allow things to flow instead of trying to control everything.

Perhaps that philosophy has found its way into my watercolor work too.

My greatest inspiration

And then there are my two boys and my sweet husband. ❤️

I love spending time with them and watching how they see the world.

Children notice things we adults have somehow trained ourselves not to see. Their perspective is raw, curious and completely their own.

They remind me to stay playful.

To keep looking.

To keep learning.

I still take art classes myself, and I also teach art. I don’t think an artist ever reaches a point where there is nothing more to learn. There is always another technique, another way of seeing light, another medium to explore, another place to travel, another person to meet.

Outside of painting, I love traveling, spending quality time with my family, meeting interesting people and gathering with dear friends.

Community is very important to me.

And that includes you.

Every time someone tells me that one of my paintings made them feel something—or chooses a piece to bring into their home—my heart truly sings.

That connection is one of the most beautiful parts of being an artist.

My world is built around a few simple things I value deeply: family, loyalty, kindness, creativity, beauty, nature, meaningful time together, and creating things with intention.

Thank you for being here and for becoming part of my journey.

And now I would really love to know something about you:

What first attracted you to my work? Was it the colors, the subject, the feeling, the light—or something you can’t quite explain?

I would love to hear.

With love,
Agnė
